Violence is the preventable use of excessive forces that have hard to predict or control consequences - Don’t hug a thug:

Violent urges are motivated and triggered by such things as; a self-imposed loss of hope, escalating bravado, emotional loyalty to poor coping skills, impulsiveness, over the top anger or fear and bullying - Don’t hug a thug.

Because the consequences of using violence are far more difficult to cure than to prevent - if you get an urge to resort to violence then your alarm bells should be clanging for your emergency rescue responders:

Short term emergency responders:

Choose and use one of your body parts as an emergency escape craft to travel to a better future (see Using Your Body Parts for Time Travel page).

Remember, it is far better to mistrust the crime rather than yourself.

If you feel fearful about not committing a violent crime - then use your courage to feel the fear but don't do it anyway.

Use Distractions, as in counting things around you, as in, how many blue round things can you see? Also see (Other useful exercises page).

Count backwards from 10, from 20, and so on.

Imagine the sights, sounds and touch of a safe place.

Medium to longer term:

Write down your thought and feelings.

Learn to identify and communicate your feelings in a non-violent way.

See Honouring a desperation of cures, page.
