The pull of good and evil have exactly equal strengths - until you stop holding either’s hand.

Some people will go to any place or lengths, and there is no pain they will not inflict nor withstand in order to try and deny their ultimate responsibility for committing a crime or wrongdoing.

In trying to avoid responsibility, people will choose to believe that they are gripped by some so-called higher or more knowledgeable power/authority, which orders or gives them permission to commit a crime or wrongdoing.

Some examples of these (pass the buck) albeit influential powers are, a God, a Devil, a political, national or religious cause, an over-whelming inner urge/obsession, revenge, an unresolved childhood trauma, a bad genetic make-up, or losing one’s temper (even though no one ever loses their temper – but they may use it to carry out a crime).

Never the less, the reality is that the ultimate power, freedom and responsibility to hold on to, or let go of any of the above or similar influences is held solely by the person being influenced.

In short, you, and you alone are the ultimate owner of your choices and actions. And if you want to let go of a criminal or wrongful influence, then treat it as an irresponsible hanger-on, and not something to hang onto.

Exercise: Practice identifying and letting go of any inner or outer influence that, for whatever reason, condones or encourages a crime or wrongdoing.
