Let’s start with the basic truth: People commit crimes because they lack the very Life-qualities that would otherwise steer them well away from grasping at such a desperation of cures. Nevertheless, and regardless of whether those qualities have been lost, neglected or damaged by other people or them self – everyone has the right to try and reclaim those Life qualities.

Some Life qualities are: Empathy/self-respect/respect for others/openness/honesty/responsibility/self-control/forgiveness/generosity/patience/forethought/gratitude/politeness/ cleanliness and hope.

Exercises:
First, either with a good friend or on your own, make a list of the Life-Qualities that you have. Make a second list of any qualities that may have been lost, neglected or damaged through your own, someone else's or indeed life's actions .

Exercise 2 … Next, start to exercise (rehabilitate) those qualities, either by yourself or with supportive people.

Note: An urge to commit a crime/wrong, always, makes a never-ending drama when trying to trespass: “You’re too weak, this (crime/wrong) will make you feel powerful.” “You’ve got no choice but to commit the crime/wrong!” “It will be the potential victim’s fault, not yours!” You should have a right to commit this crime/wrong because … Blah! Blah! Blah! Moan! Moan! Moan! Whinge! Whinge! Whinge!
However, it is best to treat such winging, with the same disrespect that the intended crime/wrong will show to any victim, or their family, friends or community - or indeed yourself!

Just like any physical rehabilitation, emotional and moral rehabilitation will take time, and that impatience can too often lead to costly mistakes, and even it doesn’t, it will still seem too slow – so be patient anyway!

In conclusion, there is no shame in lacking in a life-quality , but there can be pride, a sense of belonging, security and completeness to be gained from reclaiming your lost, stolen or damaged life qualities; so that you can be anywhere you choose without being molested by any whinging urge to commit a crime or wrong.
