Empathy

The pursuit of true justice is a three-legged race, more often won running side by side instead of face to face.

A balanced empathy is achieved, by putting yourself in someone else’s shoes  – but without tripping over their footsteps.

Empathy can be a naturally acquired Life-Quality, or it can be learned and practiced to achieve a more fulfilling life.

Moreover, because empathy can simultaneously act as both a magnifying glass and mirror, it can be used to gain a greater insight of what is really needed from yourself as well as other people. In that respect, empathy is more successful than either charity or competition.

There are two types of empathy: Emotional empathy, is the act of imagining one’s self feeling another person’s range of emotions in their situation. However, although such empathy is very valuable; if overused, it can cause feelings of emotional distress, helplessness, victim blaming and ultimately an avoidance of empathizing.

Practical empathy: is the recognising of the down-to-earth, every day, step by step practical needs and views of another person’s situation.

A combined or balanced empathy: means, balancing both types of empathy so they not only increase the abilities and opportunities for a mutually benefiting path – but also open out a far wider and richer experience of choice, the world, and Life.
